Does anyone know whether Atsuko Asano refutes what happens in the Epilogue (since the entirety of Vol 9 was written in a rush) or is it still okay to think it’s canon and that Shion didn’t actually turn super dark and yandere after Nezumi left.WintersCatch Fandoms: No. Like, what if Shion got a letter from Nezumi saying, “I’ll be back soon” and that’s why he’s brighter again _

(since Shion-papa was six months away from No.6, six months after Nezumi set off from Vol 9, so it would take another six months for Shion-papa to return to No.6 (meaning one full year since the events of Vol 9, meaning around the time of Beyond / Shion kicking Yoming out). Maybe we can pretend that Nezumi somehow contacted Shion because he was worried about Shion-papa wrecking havoc on No.6 _ or maybe Shion heard about Nezumi from Shion-papa and regained hope. Shion has “kept waiting” in the Epilogue, which would imply that he hasn’t stopped waiting (which would in-turn imply that Nezumi hasn’t come back yet), BUT it doesn’t say that Nezumi didn’t not contact him. So can we assume that something’s happened?! like, Nezumi contacted him somehow or another. We also see Shion growling ferally at the end of Beyond (his first year apart from Nezumi), but by the Epilogue (his second year apart), he’s a lot more optimistic again. #hopefulfangirl #maybereadingtoomuchintoit UNLESS, like, Tsukiyo got a burst of energy because it could sense that its master was coming back. The thing that doesn’t make sense is that, in Inukashi’s letter, he “heard that Shion was a member of the Restructural Committee” two years after Shion’s been one, so, like, did Shion not tell him?Īnd also, Tsukiyo was described as “aging,” “beginning to weaken,” and “nearing its end” in Beyond, but if we assume Beyond is before the Epilogue, where it’s described as “bright and energetic as ever,” then that doesn’t really make sense. (I’m not saying Nezumi’s been gone for three years, because Shionn is not three years old YET.) SO, IN CONCLUSION, Nezu left when Shionn was not even one (maybe like six months old) and Shionn is now almost three, so he’s been gone for at least two years and counting. We can conclude that Beyond happened chronologically before the Epilogue, just based on the years that have passed and baby-Shionn’s age. but the importance is that he is older than in Beyond.) (he’s almost three years old, meaning that maybe he’s like two years and nine months old or something. baack to the Epilogue, Inukashi, in his letter, states that Baby-Shionn is almost three years old now. (so now, he’s one year and six months old)

So, in reference to Baby-Shionn’s age, “not even one yet” plus “over a year” gives us: in Beyond, Shion states in the narration that it’s been “over a year” after the events of the story when Karan invites Inukashi and Rikiga over for dinner because Shion doesn’t smile anymore.

Vol 9 concludes with Nezumi’s leaving and Baby-Shionn is still less than one years old. events between Vol 4 and Vol 9 happen in a day or two. he’s referred to as an “infant” and “not even one” in Vol 4, Ch 4. Using Baby-Shionn as a time of reference: Proceed at own risk for lengthy fan theory/speculation on amount of time since Nezumi left (with calculations!), Tsukiyo’s health paradox(?), Baby-Shionn’s age, and Shion’s mental state.įrom what I’ve gathered: the events of Beyond happen between Nezumi’s leaving in Vol 9 and the Epilogue that Asano gives us. I read this post one morning and it ruined me and I had to reread the whole novel (again) to confirm.
